Down is the New Up



Can you believe the new Target commercial? It didn't take Madison Avenue long to turn an economic terror attack into an advertising opportunity. I can just hear the executives: "Walmart's making money on the recession! Why can't we?" Someone didn't panic. Some wise-ass didn't loose her head. She said, "Let's make spending money at Target look like saving money. Then let's make it look fun and sexy!" Should we be impressed or disgusted?

Disgusted is too easy. Let's try impressed. Without the crass commercialism, the take home message is don't let fear rule. Keep your head and keep moving forward.  Even if our 401Ks have turned (temporarily!) into petty cash, we can be grateful that the fundamentals of our lives are sound.
