“A therapist who is

qualified, kind and

easy to talk to.”

ABOUT DR ALETTA

Do you find yourself at a crossroads?

Do the old definitions of who you are not work anymore?

Do you find yourself not enjoying the place you've wound up

in your work or relationships?

I’ve been there. I know how awful it feels when life events and

responsibilities overwhelm your dreams. My service is customized

to your individual needs to provide relief from emotional pain with

effective, practical and long lasting results.

With my personal experience and professional expertise combined

with your knowledge of yourself and motivation, we can address the

stresses that threaten to engulf you. My approach is collaborative to

maximize your counseling experience. I create a comfortable place

for you in a style that is compassionate, direct, and non-judgmental.

I can be irreverent, enjoy a good sense of humor and believe laughter

has a healing power all its own. Never bored, I view life as a gift, at

times a burden to the receiver, but always rich.

My life experiences offered me the opportunity to understand what it’s

like to hurt, physically and emotionally. In my twenties I was diagnosed

with a rare kidney disease that relapsed throughout my adulthood.

While treatable, the cure was often as hard to bear as the disease.

Later I was diagnosed with scleroderma, a chronic connective tissue

disease. Despite these and other adventures, I have an optimistic

outlook that I attribute to a blessedly happy temperament, an abiding

spirituality and a supportive, loving family.

Today I enjoy focusing exclusively on my private practice clients,

speaking and consulting business. I absolutely love the rewards

and challenges of helping people regain a sense of control and

joy in their lives.

I am a Clinical Psychologist working in Amherst, New York, licensed in New York State. I earned a B.A. from the University of Kansas and my Masters and Doctorate degrees from the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies

at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY.

My career includes positions at:

• Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan

• The Anxiety and Depression Out-patient Clinic at the New York

Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center

• The Substance Abuse/Dual Diagnosis Rehabilitation Unit

• Coordinator for Community Out-Patient Services

• Director of the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program at

Erie County Medical Center.

• Executive Director of the Behavioral Healthcare Network, Inc.

That’s me in a nutshell. If I seem like the kind of person you would like to

work with, have any questions or would like to learn more, please give me

a call or write. We can work together in my Amherst, NY office to help you move and explore what’s

next for you.
